The Grand Canyon is the most popular National Park in the United States (5 million people visit each year). If you're preparing to enjoy it, this article is for you. I'm going post up several maps. Grand Canyon: A Epic Landmark

The Grand Canyon is old. Real old. In some spots, there's exposed rock that scientists have confirmed as being more than two billion years old!

The Grand Canyon encompases more than a million acres. It averages a mile deep and in at its widest point reaches 18 miles. Elevation changes can be up to 7,000 feet. Go here for Grand Canyon weather.

The Colorado River is responsible for carving the canyon. From "head to toe," the National Park is 277 miles long, starting from Lee's Ferry in Arizona and tapering off at Grand Wash Cliffs near Las Vegas.
